KGA at the National Conference on Geography Education
The Kansas Geographic Alliance (KGA) welcomes you to our new 2017 Geography Awareness Week (GAW) website.
The KGA has the privilege of presenting at the 2017 National Conference on Geography Education. On Saturday, 29 July, Dr. John Harrington and Tommy Larsen will give a talk about the resources compiled on this website. Dr. Harrington and Tommy will detail the ways in which teachers from around the nation can use these materials during GAW and the rest of the school year.
The KGA is grateful to Dr. Derek Alderman for his efforts in gaining permission from publishers for the Alliance to post chapters from his books related to the GAW theme: the Geography of Civil Rights Movements. PDF copies of these informative and interesting works can be found at this link.
Dr. Lisa Millsaps, the past Office Assistant of the KGA, will also be presenting with Tommy Larsen and John Harrington on what teachers should know about learning progressions. Dr. Millsaps is now a professor of geography at the University of Northern Iowa.
